Role of Electrophysiological Testing, Intracardiac Defibrillator Implantation, and Concomitant Surgical Procedures in Patients with Left Ventricular Aneurysms Presenting with Ventricular Tachycardia

2012
Although the occurrence of sudden cardiac death has decreased substantially after surgical ventricular restoration, its persistence in some patients is a cause of immense concern. These patients constitute a different subset from the patients enrolled in the MADIT trials. The patients eligible for the MADIT trial with subsequent ICD implantation were selected solely on the basis of left ventricular ejection fraction. These patients did not have distinct left ventricular aneurysms and areas of contractile myocardium.
