Injection-Type Field Sprayer for Control of Insect Pests

An experimental field sprayer was constructed to deliver concentrated insecticides at a rate proportional to ground speed into the lines that carry water from the tank to the nozzles. The unit was tested for 2 years in comparison with a conventional sprayer for the control of insect pests of potatoes. Although there were slight differences between the two sprayers in the extent of insect control, the differences were inconsequential, and yields of tubers harvested from plants sprayed with the injection-type sprayer at two different speeds were comparable to those obtained from plants sprayed with the conventional sprayer.
