Cultivating character as good citizen through problem solving infusion

Problem-solving skills are needed for students in social life today and after they have completed their formal education. This pre-experimental study aims to develop students’ character as good citizens and contribute to solving socio-scientific issues through infusion problem solving. Infusion problem solving integrates the steps of problem solving in the form of thinking diagrams that help students analyze problems and find solutions systematically, concisely, and follow all stages of problem solving. The results showed that infusion of problem solving improved the character of students as good citizens: interconnectedness, sustainable development, emphatic concern, perspective taking, moral and ethical sensitivity, feeling responsibility, dan willingness to act.
