Sobrepeso e obesidade em colaboradores técnicos de uma Instituição de Ensino Superior

2020
Objective: to analyze the association of overweight with socio-demographic variables, health conditions and lifestyle indicators of technical collaborators of a private higher education institution. Materials and methods: Cross-sectional, analytical study carried out in a private institution in the north of Minas Gerais. We adopted a random probabilistic sample of 101 technical collaborators. Data collection was performed through anthropometric evaluation and through questionnaires (socio-demographic, health conditions and fantastic lifestyle). For statistical analysis, the absolute and relative frequency was estimated. The association between the variables was analyzed by the chi-square test and the associated variables up to the level of 20% were analyzed together by means Logistic Regression, with only the associated variables being assumed in the final model up to the 5% level. Results: The prevalence of overweight/obesity was 64.4%. Among the technical collaborators, overweight/obesity was associated with marital status (OR=1.30 p=<0.021), being overweight (OR=0.783, p=0.001) and rarely sleeping (OR=1.127; p=0.023). Conclusion: It is concluded that overweight/obesity is a health problem in the studied institution, requiring elaboration of preventive measures to minimize factors that affect the health conditions of each worker.
