Research and application of weight function in flexible male die drawing deformation mechanism

Flexible male die drawing technology is a flexible forming technology in sheet metal forming. Unlike conventional technology, it is a combined process of conventional drawing and bulging. To study the effects of the two deformation mechanisms, an idea of weighted sum (a statistics method) is introduced and the drawing weight and bulging weight with their corresponding expressions are proposed. On this basis, a certain cylindrical part is used as the research object. The geometric condition and strain calculation formulas of flexible male die drawing technology are established to reveal the deformation mechanism. The study shows that theoretical computation results of strain and thickness are consistent with the experimental results. This originally proposed theory reveals the deformation mechanism of flexible male die drawing technology and provides a theoretical support for the application and further research in this area.
