Electronic and magnetic structure of bcc nickel.

1992
The electronic and magnetic structure of metastable bcc nickel grown on Fe(001) has been investigated using spin-polarized angle-resolved photoemission. At the iron lattice constant bcc nickel is found to be ferromagnetic, with a moment of (0.4{plus minus}0.45){mu}{sub {ital B}} in reasonable agreement with theoretical predictions, and with a Curie temperature above 300 K. A 6-eV'' spin-polarized satellite is also observed, analogous to that seen for fcc nickel previously. The observation of spin polarization in this feature confirms the presence of long-range ferromagnetic order at the local nickel sites.
