Optimal distributed secondary control for an islanded microgrid

2020
Abstract This chapter discusses an optimal distributed control strategy for multiple distributed generators (DGs) in the microgrid of islanded mode. To maintain the accuracy of active power sharing and eliminate frequency deviation in a finite-time manner, a finite-time secondary frequency control strategy is proposed. It is demonstrated that the traditional asymptotically convergent distributed control method is just a special case of the proposed strategy under specific parameters of the controller. Then, a secondary voltage control strategy is proposed, which can achieve accurate reactive power sharing and regulate the average voltage magnitude of all the DGs to an expected value. The proposed distributed control strategy only requires the information of neighboring local controllers with a sparse communication network. The effectiveness of the proposed strategy is verified by the simulation studies conducted in the MATLAB/Simulink platform.
