High-fill-factor adaptive optics mirrors with independent piston, tip and tilt controls

This paper proposes a segmented mirror design for adaptive optics that utilizes novel actuators to raise the effective pivot point of each mirror element to the midpoint of the element's top surface. This permits a fill factor near 100%. The piston, tip and tilt degrees of freedom are independent and each can be operated separately using a single actuator.
