Background Patients with cortisol secreting adrenal adenomas present with Cushing’s syndrome (CS), while 5–15% of subjects with adrenal incidentalomas have subclinical hypercortisolism (SH) as they have biochemical abnormalities suggesting autonomous cortisol secretion without associated clinical features of CS.
