Features of the deformation of iron-nickel alloys exposed to a shock wave
1990
An investigation is made of the microstructure of iron-nickel alloys (Fe-32% Ni; Fe-21% Ni-0.6% C) after impact loading at pressure P=50 GPa. Local structural regions are found in which, depending on the (P, T) conditions, either a bcc-fcc phase transformation or transition of solid to liquid phase takes place. On the basis of the microstructural observations, the propagation of shock waves in the specimen is analysed. A model is proposed which explains the stress concentration by focusing of the shock waves
