Catéteres ureterales: ¿qué nos depara el futuro?

2005
Ureteral stents have become an invaluable tool in our armamentarium due to the technological advances in the recent years. Thanks to this technology, we have been able to transform aggressive surgeries for alleviating obstructive pathology into an ambulatory, minimally invasive procedure. Modern ureteral stents have a low friction coefficient, are thermosensitive and have and hydrophilic layer that allow an easy placement in the urinary tract. Despite these advances, we are far from having an ideal stent. In this paper we will show the advances in ureteral stents, regarding new materials, coatings and designs, which are intended to modify modern urology as we know it.
