Promoting Early Childhood Literacy: What Do Pediatric Residents Know, Believe, and Practice?

Purpose: Pediatricians play an important role in promoting the healthy development of young children. Learning to do this well is a key component of residency training. The Reach Out and Read (RoR) program, within primary care clinics, is evidence-based and promotes literacy, shared reading, and language development in young children. RoR depends on providers for implementation; however, in residency continuity clinics, the primary providers are learners themselves.
