A virtual instrument based on Lab VIEW for real-time harmonic detection

2006
In this paper, a virtual instrument (VI) based on LabVIEW (laboratory virtual instrument engineering workbench) is developed for instantaneous harmonic currents detection in three-phase systems. By the generalized dk-qk coordinate transform theory, any term of harmonic current as well as fundamental active and reactive power can be detected effectively and accurately. All of the detecting functions are realized in LabVIEW environment. Compared with conventional instruments, costs for research and development can be substantially reduced while computing speed can be accelerated. Simulation and experimental results prove the feasibility and validity of the developed VI, therefore it can be widely used for real-time harmonic detecting and power quality monitoring. (4 pages)
