The analysis of the attitudes of the elderly to-wards old age based on the example of senior citizens of the Tucholski district

Introduction. Old age is a natural and inevitable phase in human life. Socially speaking, the criterion of being old is being pro-fessionally inactive, at pensionable age and on the decrease as far as physical and mental activity is concerned. Old age is perceived nega-tively by the public and the media, which has an unfavourable impact on the elderly themselves. That is related to the stereotypical presen-tation of old age and old people, who are shown as infirm, unkempt and unable to function independently.
