An Outbreak of Coccidiosis and Necrotic Enteritis in 16-Week-Old Cage-Reared Layer Replacement Pullets

1986
Necrotic enteritis of chickens, caused by Clostridium perfringens and its toxins (1,4,5), is a disease generally associated with chickens raised on litter. Coccidiosis is recognized as being frequently associated with the disease and may act as a predisposing factor in field outbreaks (2,3). Our report describes an outbreak of coccidiosis and necrotic enteritis encountered in a flock of 16-week-old cage-reared pullets.
