Soft Modes and Localization in Spin Glasses

More than 40 years ago, it became clear that supercooled liquids and amorphous solids exhibit an excess of low-energy excitations, compared with their crystalline counterparts [Phi81]. This excess was evinced, for instance, from anomalies in the specific heat at low temperatures (below 10 K).
