An electrosurgical snare instrument (11) comprising: an elongated flexible tubular sheath (13) having proximal (14) and distal (16), the sheath having a longitudinal axis defined therethrough; a shaft (18) having proximal (20) and distal (22), the shaft extending through and axially movable relative to the sheath; one snare loop (24) provided at the distal end configured to encircle tissue, wherein the movement of the shaft relative to change the loop diameter of the exposed snare tubular sleeve axis; and a feedback sensor (50, 60) that determines at least one condition of the snare loop, characterized by the feedback sensor is operatively coupled to the elongate tubular sheath, wherein either (1) the feedback sensor is selected from a group consisting of a position sensor (50) configured to measure the diameter of the snare loop and configured to measure pressure exerted by the snare loop on the surrounded tissue pressure sensor (60); or (2) the feedback sensor includes: a position sensor (50) configured to measure the diameter of the snare loop; and a pressure sensor (60) configured to measure pressure exerted by the snare loop on the surrounded tissue.
