Faraday effect and dynamics of magnetic moments in holmium iron garnet in very high magnetic fields

1992
Measurements of the Faraday effect and absorption coefficient for radiation of λ = 1.151 μm in Ho 0.7 U 2.3 Fe 5 O 12 in pulsed magnetic fields up to 350 T show an abrupt reorientation of the magnetic moments of Ho 3+ , representing a resonance of the Faraday effect in fields 15-19 T, which confirmed the theoretically predicted pattern of stratification of the moments in fields in excess of 150 T
