NEW MATERIAL: A compound of formula I [wherein R 1 , R 2 are each H, 1-5C alkyl, CF 3 , phenyl, etc., or R 1 and R 2 form 3-5C alkylene together; R 3 is 1-5C alkyl or halogen; n is 0-3; R 4 is H, 1-4C alkyl; Het is a group of formula II (wherein R 5 is 1-10C alkyl, oxacycloalkyl of a 5-6-membered ring, etc.), group of formula III (wherein R 6 is 1-5C alkyl or alkoxyl; X is O, S), a group of formula IV, a group of formula V, a group of formula VI, etc.; provided that in case of X=O, R 1 =CH 3 and R 2 -R 4 =H, R 5 is not phenyl]. EXAMPLE: 3,4-Dimethyl-7-(2-methyl-1,3,4-oxadiazol-5-yl)-methoxycoumarin. USE: A drug. Especially a therapeutic drug for central nervous disease. Having a monoamine oxidase inhibitory action. PREPARATION: A hydroxycoumarin of formula VIII or an alkali metal salt thereof and a compound of formula VIII (wherein Y is a nucleus eliminating group) are reacted in a solvent to obtain a compound of formula I.
