AAP president responds

I want to thank Dr. Ravitch for his communication regarding the article in AAP News on the animal rights movement. The editors of AAP News were attempting to present a balanced view, but I do believe the final conclusion was that the Academy does support animal research. In support of that view, we are currently working very hard with the academic pediatric societies to publish a brochure in support of animal research. This brochure will be distributed to the entire membership and to other medical organizations which we feel could result in the widest dissemination.
