Epidemiology analysis of public health emergencies in Anhui province from 2005 to 2011

Objective To study the epidemiological features of public health emergencies and provide scientific basis for the government to establish prevention and control strategies.Methods Descriptive epidemiology method was used to analyze the public health emergent events from 2004 to 2009 in Anhui province according to the national public health emergency reporting system.Results A total of 299 events of public health emergencies were reported from 2005 to 2011 in Anhui,with 21 291 patients and 120 deaths.There were 177 infectious events,65 food poisoning events and 49 occupational poisoning events.There was significant area difference in public health emergencies.Events reported in 2007 were the most,then declined,and kept stabilized currently.41.14% of the events occurred in schools,especially in rural primary and middle schools.The main events were infectious disease.Conclusion Public health emergencies show steady trend in Anhui province currently.The key work of prevention and control of public health emergencies should be: infectious diseases in rural primary and middle schools,food poisoning in Jianghuai areas and Huaibei areas,and occupational poisoning in Jianghuai areas.
