Steroid-Mediated Behaviors and Their Regulation by Antisense Oligodeoxynucleotides

1998
Deciphering the molecular and cellular mechanisms of complex brain function and behavior is one of the major challenges of neuroscience. Recent advances in molecular biology have revolutionized the tools available for examining the neurobiological basis of brain function. The classical pharmacological approaches are being integrated with the more effective gene-targeting, antisense oligonucleotide and viral gene transfer strategies to explore fundamental issues in the field of neurobiology. Among these, antisense oligonucleotide technology has proven to be both economical and effective in exploring a variety of mechanisms underlying neuronal functions at molecular, cellular and behavioral levels.
