Between 1993-1996 and 1998-2000, a total number of 17 young peregrine falcons Falco peregrinus, including 11 males and 6 females, were released in the Pieniny. The applied technique called hacking involved placing the young falcons in an artifi cial nest (hack box) installed on a rocky crag. The fi rst breeding in wild was recorded in 2003 and the further were recorded in the two consecutive years (2004 and 2005). Breeding success amounted to at least one young in 2003 and two young individuals in the following year. In 2005 the hatch was lost.
