Impulse Cytophotometry and the Biological Behavior of Gliomas

1986
Monometric DNA impulse cytophotometry (ICP) is a valuable tool in obtaining data on tumor kinetics, such as the ploidy state (diploid versus aneuploid stemline, polyploidy) and the proportion of DNA synthesizing cells (S-phase rate), by analyzing about 104–105 tumor cells (for review see GOERTTLER and STOHR 1982). This method has been applied in neuro-oncology, too, in order to obtain information on various types of brain tumor regarding diagnosis, degree of malignancy, and prognosis (1, 5, 6).
