Charge structure of the hadronic final state in deep-inelastic muon-nucleon scattering

1988
The general charge properties of the hadronic final state produced inμ+p andμ+d interactions at 280 GeV are investigated. Quark charge retention and local charge compensation is observed. The ratioF2n/F2p of the neutron to proton structure function is derived from the measurement of the average hadronic charge in μd interactions.
