Analysis and design of a new type high-efficiency single-phase induction motor based on negative sequence magnetic field compensation

2008
Because of the negative-sequence magnetic field, the single-phase induction motor has higher temperature, lower output torque and lower efficiency comparing with three-phase induction motor. Based on negative-sequence magnetic field compensation principle, this paper presents a new type single-phase motor with a special stator windings configuration to weaken the negative sequence magnetic field and improve the efficiency and power density of the motor. By the equivalent current method and the equivalent circuit, the static performance of the new type motor is studied. With the aid of finite element software JMAG, the comparison between the new type motor and the ordinary motor proves that the efficiency and the performance of the single-phase motor with the new stator structure can be greatly improved.
