MODELING AND DESIGNING OF SMALL WIND TURBINE BLADE

2020
Wind turbines working at lower wind speed shows the bad performance due to laminar flow of wind leads to laminar separation. This problem usually occurs at a lower Reynolds number and lower wind speeds always have a lower Reynolds number. In this paper a wind turbine blade of 2KW of capacity working on lower wind speed has been designed. At first in the airfoil section the low Reynolds number airfoil E387,S1223,SD7080,NACA2414 is selected and their airfoil characteristics is investigated. After investigation the characteristics of airfoil, blade is designed in “q blade” software. The simulation is done at different Reynolds number. From the simulation results it is found that the maximum power of 1750W is obtained at power coefficient of 0.27 at Reynolds number of 422731.
