Influence of quenching temperature on austenite-ferrite phase transformation behavior of Fe-3Mn alloy

2009
The austenite transformed to ferrite(γ→α) behavior and the kinetic process in substitutional Fe-2.72 at%Mn alloy were investigated by high-resolution differential dilatometer.Different quenching temperatures were chosen to study the phase transformation behavior during cooling process. The results show that the onset temperature of austenite to ferrite(γ→α) transformation decreases with increasing the quenching temperature and the transformation process finished in a short time,as well as the ferrite formation rate(df_α/dt) has the absolute maximum priority.Additionally, the microstructure observation and analysis show that the grain size decreases with increasing of the degree of undercooling, which provide a new idea for microstructure controlling during phase transformation process.
