Multi-Stage Constrained State Identification in Distribution Grids Using Uncertainty Intervals

2018
Distribution grids experienced fundamental structural changes during the last two decades mainly due to the integration of renewables and new load types. These structural changes also require new approaches regarding operation philosophy. Distribution System State Identification is a fundamental part of many Smart Grids and usually constitutes the basis of other subsequent algorithms. Its accuracy is therefore essential for an effective Smart Grid operation. In this paper a new methodology for state identification in distribution grids is proposed combining bounded-error treatment of uncertainty with constrained state estimation techniques. Simulations clearly show that the proposed concept leads to superior results compared to conventional methods.
