Aggregated chain morphological variation analysis of magnetorheological fluid (MRF) in squeeze mode

2019
Under the action of squeeze force, the aggregated chains will experience a complex morphological variation from bending to fracture, which has great influence on the macroscopic yield of magnetorheological fluid (MRF). In this research, the morphological variation of aggregated chains is modelled considering the hydraulic force and the restoring effect of magnetic force. Then, the fracture mechanism of aggregated chains is analyzed anlytically. On the basis of this, a fracture criterion is established, in which the fracture angle and the fracture position of chains can be determined. Further, an novel device is also designed for observing the morphological variation process of MRF in squeeze mode. From experimental observation results, the morphological variation and fracture mechanism could be validated effectively.
