SURVEY OF THE STATE-OF-THE-ART FOR THE DESIGN OF HIGH SPEED ROLLING ELEMENT BEARINGS USED IN GAS TURBINE ENGINES, VOLUME I

1969
Abstract : The state-of-the-art for the design of high-speed rolling element bearings used for gas turbine engine mainshafts is reviewed. Recommendations are made for research and development needed to satisfy future U. S. Navy requirements especially pertaining to rolling element bearing technology. Six American engine manufacturers were visited and contributed to the review. The survey report, Volume I, includes design criteria, design theory, materials, and performance parameters pertaining to bearing design for engines over the past ten years and those currently in design.
