Synthesis of N‐Methylcarbazoles from N‐(2‐Iodoaryl)‐N‐methylanilines in the Presence of Potassium tert‐Butoxide and Iron(II) Bromide.

The preparation of N-methylcarbazoles is achieved from N-iodoaryl-N-methylanilines (V) and (XI) without the use of toxic transition metals or special techniques for generation of radicals.
