One-pot synthesis of η-Fe 2 O 3 nanospheres/diatomite composites for electrochemical capacitor electrodes

Abstract In this work, the η-Fe 2 O 3 nanospheres/diatomite composites (FNDCs) are prepared for the first time by a one-pot hydrothermal method, using the K 2 FeO 4 as iron source. Indeed, the η-Fe 2 O 3 can uniformly decorate the inner and outer surface of diatomite to form 3D porous structure. Such unique 3D structure and their high specific area are favorable to provide sufficient active sites for effective electrochemical reaction and enhance capacitive performances. In principle, these findings demonstrate that the low-cost η-Fe 2 O 3 modified diatomite structures are promising for energy storage and conversion application.
