Using Mobile Sensing to Enable the Signal Quality Assessment for Infrastructure Sensing Systems

The signal quality of real-world infrastructure sensing systems varies significantly over the deployment environment and hardware implementation. Quantify the signal quality allow further optimization of sensing configuration and deployment to enhance the application performance. In our previous work, we choose a standard excitation and apply it repeatedly to assess the signal quality, which is labor-intensive and difficult to scale. In this work, we 1) utilize the mobility of people to scale the signal quality assessment, 2) use a mobile sensing system to identify the subset human-induced signals that can be used as a standard excitation.
