'Vuolsi pensare all’avvenire': la formazione del personale nel pensiero degli archivisti fiorentini dall’Unità alle soglie del XX secolo

The article is intended to retrace Florentine archivists’ concepts about education of the archives personnel in the years between the second half the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. An increased professionalization of the archivistic class was thought as a fairly significant element for the purpose of structuring the preservation system of archives in Italy. The theoretical development is analyzed by means of a survey of the archival documents from the “Soprintendenza generale agli archivi toscani” and of the personal correspondence, in order to assess the effect of speculation on legislation and on inclusion policies.
