Improved data exploitation for DKIST high-resolution solar observations

2014
Following its commissioning in 2019, the Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope (DKIST) will be the flagship facility for astrophysical investigations of the full solar atmosphere. The telescope is planned to acquire large volumes (5 PB per year, initially) of heterogeneous data over several decades using several different instruments. We discuss the challenges currently envisioned for handling these data volumes while providing efficient data discovery and delivery interfaces for scientists. Broader use of the data for varied science purposes will rely on algorithms for extracting useful information content from the recorded images and mechanisms by which this information can be mined and analyzed.
