Diabetes mellitus and the secondary prevention of stroke

Diabetes mellitus is one of the major risk factors for stroke.It is important that lowering glucose intensively plays a role for aprimary prevention of stroke.Diabetes mellitus is also an independent risk factor for stroke recurrence,and the role of diabetes in the recurrence of different subtypes of stroke is different.The effect of lowering intensively glucose in the secondary prevention of stroke is still equivocal.
