Structural and Clinical Aspects of the Plasma Phospholipid Subclasses
1987
The presence of phospholipid (PL) in plasma lipoproteins, in the arterial wall, and in atherosclerotic lesions has been well demonstrated by both biochemical and histochemical investigations. Metabolic studies have shown that most PL within the arterial wall is synthesized endogenously, and the mechanism of such synthesis has been explored. However, changes of the PLs and their precise role within the lipoproteins remain uncertain.
