The first three minutes: 1990 version

2008
Early universe cosmology has come a long way since Steve Weinberg’s famous book, The First Three Minutes. This talk will summarize some of the key areas: inflation, phase transition, dark matter, and nucleosynthesis. The summary will focus on what comes out of the universe at the end of three minutes and thus serves as the initial conditions for later studies of the universe. Particular emphasis will be made on those aspects of the early universe that are confirmed by experiment or observation and those aspects that are relatively insensitive to the model‐dependent assumptions.
