EHD analysis of a misaligned journal bearing

Abstract Elastohydrodynamic performance characteristics of a missligned journal bearing are reported. It is observed that bush flexibility in a misaligned bearing, unlike that in an aligned bearing, improves the bearing load capacity owing to an increase in minimum film thickness at higher values of load. The misalignment is found to improve the stability of the bearing, whereas the flexibility of the bush tends to reduce this improvement.
