Knowledge of Cervical Cancer and Awareness of Screening Services Among Female Undergraduate Health Sciences Students in Brunei

Women with cervical cancer have high chances of survival if detected at an early stage. Adequate knowledge and awareness of cervical cancer and screening services are crucial in reducing cervical cancer rates. The objective of this study is to assess knowledge of cervical cancer and awareness of cervical cancer screening services offered in Brunei among all female undergraduate health sciences. A cross-sectional study conducted using online questionnaire. Descriptive and sub-group analysis was applied. In total, 97 female health sciences students participated in this study. All participants were aware of cervical cancer and screening services. Knowledge on cervical cancer risk factors increased significantly with increased year of study. About 25% were not aware of frequency of screening, and 15% did not know where the services are provided. Knowledge and awareness of cervical cancer among female health science students are high. This is important, as they will become focal person in their profession, to disseminate the right information to the public in the continuous national endeavor to lower mortality rate from cervical cancer.
