Growing optic disc melanocytoma: what to do?

2002
Optic disc melanocytoma is a rare, pigmented, benign tumor with a favorable clinical outcome. The authors report the case of a 38-year-old Caucasian male, who during a check-up was found to have a juxtapapillary pigmented lesion in the left eye.The clinical findings were compatible with an optic disc melanocytoma and yearly follow-ups were scheduled. Twenty-six months later, however, tumor growth was detected and there was a need to make a differential diagnosis of choroidal melanoma. The authors discuss the results obtained during this clinical investigation, including indocyanine green angiography findings.
