Cathodic reactions in electrolysis of an Na{sub 2}MoO{sub 4}-UO{sub 2}MoO{sub 4} melt

1995
Electrochemical behavior of uranium complexes in Na{sub 2}MoO{sub 4}-UO{sub 2}MoO{sub 4} melt has been studied in air at 1023-1123 K. It has been found that [UO{sub 3}(MoO{sub 4})]{sup 2-} ions are involved in formation of U{sub 4}O{sub 9}, and reduction of UO{sub 2}{sup 2+} and [UO{sub 2}(MoO{sub 4}){sub 2}]{sup 2-} ions yields the UO{sub 2} phase. The main kinetic parameters of the electrochemical reduction of U{sub 4}O{sub 9} have been calculated.
