Dual Buck Hybrid Cascaded Multilevel Inverter

2012
Hybrid cascaded multilevel inverter technology has emerged recently as a very important alternative in the area of high-power medium-voltage energy control. This paper presents a novel dual buck circuit into this inverter as the basic cascaded cell. Then inverter is made of one dual buck cell and several bridge cells. Dual buck circuit is a highly efficient and reliable topology which overcomes the shoot-through problem in traditional bridge inverter, and its switches and diodes can be designed respectively. And a simple control method composed of low working-frequency switch control and hysteretic current pulse width modulate (PWM) control is adopted. This inverter remains the merits of cascaded multilevel inverter that the harmonic content of output voltage is low, so that filter can be simplified, and its reliability and efficiency are improved. The results (three-level) verify the correctness of the above analysis.
