Safety of structured triglyceride used in treatment of hyperbilirubinemia patients:A comparative study

2011
Objective To compare the safety of structured triglyceride(STG) and physically mixed medium chain triglyceride/long chain triglyceride(MCT/LCT) used in treatment of hyperbilirubinemia patients. Methods Fifty hyperbilirubinemia patients admitted to our hospital from 2008 to 2009 with a serum total bilirubin of 200-400μmol/L on the postoperative day were divided into STG group(n=25) and MCT/LCT group(n=5).Their parenteral STB and MCT/LCT nutrition in patients for≥5 days was retrospectively analyzed. Results The ALT,AST,AKP,γ-GT and bilirubin levels were significantly lower in the two groups 1 and 5 days after the STG and MCT/LCT were used than before they were used(P0.05).However,no significant difference was found in triglyceride between the two groups(P0.05).Conclusion The effects of STG and MCT/LCT are not significantly different on the liver function of hyperbilirubinemic patients.
