Pterygium surgery with mitomycin-C: ten-year results.

2001
A review of 870 cases of primary and recurrent pterygia done between 1988 and 1998 by the merest sclera conjunctival flap technique with the single application of 0.1 cc of 0.4 mg/mL of mitomycin-C to the subconjunctival space is reported. There were 3 recurrences (0.35%) and no vision threatening complications. The adverse effects were mild and easily resolved with topical treatment.
