Investigating effect of ordering on magnetic-elastic property of FeNiCoCr medium-entropy alloy

2019
Abstract The order phase in FeNiCoCr medium-entropy alloys has been investigated in experiments. Using ab initio calculations, we find the transformation from the disordered face centered cubic solid solution to the ordered L 1 2 structure has an important effect on the magnetic-elastic properties of equimolar FeNiCoCr medium-entropy alloy. As a function of order degree x in the pseudobinary Cr x (FeNiCo) (1- x )/3 alloy, the increasing magnetic moment of Cr is responsible for the increase of shear moduli c’ and c 44 , whereas the decrease of total magnetic moment induces increase of tensile modulus c 11 . The ordering reduces the elastic anisotropy and intrinsic ductility of FeNiCoCr.
