On the shape of grade efficiency curves computed for centrifugal dedusters by CFD with Lagrangian partcile tracking
1999
The factors influencing the shapes of cyclone grade efficiency curves generated by Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Lagrangian particle tracking are studied. Two software packages SPRINT and FLUENT were used for a complete picture. Computed curves both with and without the effect of turbulent particle dispersion are compared with experimental ones. It is found that the steepness of the predicted curves without turbulent dispersion agrees well with experimental curves, Including turbulent dispersion in the particle tracking results in the formation of a 'tail', but the shape and the position do not agree well with the 'duck-tails' in the experimental curves. These features are discussed.
