The control method comprises the steps that the shape description parameters and the measurement speed of a workpiece to be measured are received, wherein the shape description parameters and the measurement speed are input by a user; a measurement track is calculated based on the shape description parameters and the measurement speed; the measurement track and the measurement speed are transmitted to a server, wherein the server is used for controlling a measuring instrument to measure the workpiece to be measured according to a predetermined program; a measurement result returned by the server is received; and a predetermined analysis method is used to analyze the measurement result to acquire a measurement index value. According to the measuring instrument control method provided by the invention, the measurement efficiency can be improved, and human resources are saved.
