A large-scale biomass bulk terminal

This research explores the possibility of a large-scale bulk terminal in West Europe dedicated to handle solid and liquid biomass materials. Various issues regarding the conceptual design of such a terminal have been investigated and demonstrated in this research: the potential biomass materials that will be the major international trade flows in the future, the characteristics of these potential biomass materials, the interaction between the material properties and terminal equipment, the perspective from terminal logistic process, and the terminal configuration. To this day no such a terminal exists yet. Therefore, the results from this research are a first step that will help the future development of such a terminal.
